Overview:
• This class is for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in managing cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for emergency response personnel. It is an alternative to a traditional ACLS Renewal course. All participants must have a current ACLS card and have completed at least one renewal course.
Class Preparation:
**A PowerPoint will be sent to you before class. You must review it and be ready to discuss the topic. We are not asking you to be an expert on the topic. You will simply facilitate a discussion on the topic.
** We recommend using the “Presenter View” while reviewing your PowerPoint; it is a great way to review and facilitate the discussion.
*Please TRY to bring a current AHA ACLS Textbook with you to class. Textbooks can usually be borrowed from a school or work library.
Class Format:
- BLS Renewal—We will cover topics not covered during ACLS, such as child/infant CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in all age groups.
- BLS will start an hour before ACLS EP. The exact date and time you should arrive are in your registration email.
- Complete and Pass the ACLS written test with 84% (you must pass to complete the course). It is an open notes/book test.
- Participate and complete Mega code testing (must pass to complete the course)
- Participate in group-based case studies. This is done in a comfortable setting, allowing others to learn from your unique experience and knowledge.
Topics Covered:
- Respiratory and Metabolic Emergencies
- Applying the AHA systematic approach (ACLS EP Survey) to patient assessment, evaluation, and management.
- Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Emergencies
Attendance:
• Failure to attend class without prior notification forfeits any refund
• All cancelations/refunds will require a 5% card processing fee and must be requested 72 hours before the class date
• There is no fee for rescheduling to another class, but all requests should be made 72 hours before the class date
• Participants arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled class will be considered a no-show and will not be allowed to enter class
• If you have any physical limitations, please notify a class instructor upon arrival, who will be glad to assist you
We are looking forward to seeing you in class!
